RENOVATION AT THE CARNEGIE CLUBHOUSE AND RETAIL AREA

Project: Supply and installation of oak flooring as part of the alteration and extension project at Carnegie Clubhouse.

Products Chosen: Engineered Oak Plank – Dijon Vieux Brushed Engineered Oak.

THE BRIEF

One of the world’s most prestigious private members clubs, the Carnegie Club is now almost as iconic as the magnificent Dornoch landscape which surrounds Skibo Castle. So we were thrilled when interior designer, Claire Welsh, invited us to work on the alteration and extension project for Carnegie Clubhouse and retail area.

The 290m² retail area is a dramatic space with huge windows, so flooring with a traditional aesthetic was commissioned to reflect both the wonderful, natural light and complement the shop’s stunning views.

THE SOLUTION

Working closely with Claire, the Strathearn design team explored a variety of options before finally settling on Dijon Vieux Brushed Oak: a classic range characterised by rich honey and cherry tones, and finished with a light, brushed texture.

The entire project revolved around the launch of the redesigned shop, so speed was of the essence in terms of installation. With such a large area to cover in a short space of time, the only way to meet the deadline was to work round the clock. Which is exactly what we did; producing flawless floors to Claire’s delight, and well within her timescale.

The newly opened Carnegie Clubhouse shop more than matches its remarkable setting, and, of course, the Strathearn floors work beautifully with the interior design’s effortless mix of refined elegance and relaxed, inviting warmth.
