Another piece of Stuart Bagshaw Architects genius!
Installation of Bealieau Chocolat engineered oak flooring and supply of aged limestone flooring to blend with this sea side installations.
Typical of the style of Stuart Bagshaw's west coat vernacular build, this stunning house was designed to be slipped into existing alternating layers of rock and machair. The materials had to reflect the sea side location, whilst offering exceptional performance during the holiday letting period - currently running a 90% occupancy!
Wide board Beaulieau Chocolat engineered oak flooring offered the washed and sun bleached timber that was perfect for the style of house. Whilst giving a light and airy feel, the timber had to cope with the extremes of underfloor heating and significant solar gain from the massive panoramic windows that are the signature to Bagshaw's designs. Combined with driftwood furniture, grey aged limestone floors and caithness slate this has to be one of the most beautiful locations that we have had our materials installed. His inspirational designs convinced us that our own new home in a remote west coat croft had to be designed by this man. Consequently we ditched the original design and existing planning permission, and commissioned Stuart to design what has to be his best one yet! Watch this space - we are very excited!
